Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These terms cover MS Thrive KC, the community at msthrivekc.org. Using this site means you accept them. That includes reading a page, signing in, posting, answering an invitation, and opening an email we send you.

If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Who you are agreeing with

You are agreeing with the people who run this community — its administrators. We are the ones who decide who joins, what stays up, and what happens here.

You are not agreeing with anybody else, and two groups in particular are not a party to this:

Anything you want to raise about this community, raise with us.

Joining

Anybody can ask to join. An administrator decides. We may say no, and we do not have to say why — a small community that cannot decline people is not a community, it is a mailing list.

If you are accepted, keep your account to yourself. It is tied to your email address, and whoever can read that mailbox can sign in as you.

We may end your membership at any time. You may leave at any time.

What you post

What you write stays yours. We claim no ownership of your words, your photographs, or anything else you contribute.

By posting, you give us permission to store it and show it to the people who can see this community — which is what posting means. That permission lasts as long as the post does.

You are responsible for what you post. Only post things you have the right to post.

What is not allowed

This is not a complete list. Behaving in a way that makes this a worse place to be is enough.

Moderation

Administrators may remove a post, lock a conversation, hide something, or ban an address. We may do that without warning and without explanation.

We are not obliged to moderate, and we do not review everything before it appears. If something here needs attention, tell us — that is usually how we find out.

We do not edit what somebody wrote and leave their name on it. Removing something is a decision you can see; rewriting it is not.

Meeting in person

Much of what happens here is arranged so that people can meet somewhere real. That is the point.

Events are arranged by members, and you attend at your own risk. We do not vet the people who turn up, inspect the venues, supervise what happens, or take responsibility for it. Meeting somebody from the internet in person calls for the same judgement it always has: tell a friend where you are going, meet somewhere public the first time, and leave whenever you want to.

If an event is run by a business, a venue, or an organiser, your arrangement over it is with them.

Addresses, vendors and recommendations

This site may list places, suppliers, venues, or businesses. A listing is a note about something that exists, not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a promise about quality, price, safety, or availability. Check for yourself, and deal with them directly.

No money moves through here

This community does not take payment, hold funds, or process transactions. Anything you pay for is paid to somebody else, under whatever arrangement you have with them.

The site is provided as it is

We run this because we want the community to exist, not as a service you have bought.

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind — no promise that it will be up, that nothing will be lost, that it is free of faults, or that it is fit for any particular purpose.

We do our best. We are volunteers, not an operations department.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, none of the following are liable to you for any loss, damage, or injury arising out of this site, anything on it, anything arranged through it, or any event you attend:

That includes indirect and consequential loss, lost data, lost profits, and anything that happens between members, online or in person.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

The software

This site runs on Hearth, which is open source. It is provided by its authors without warranty of any kind, under its own licence. Running it here was our decision, and the consequences of that decision are ours rather than theirs.

Changes

We may change these terms. The current version is always on this page, and it is the one that applies. If we change something that matters, we will say so where members will see it.

If part of this does not hold

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of the place where this community's administrators are based, and its courts are where any dispute is dealt with.
